Durban beachfront, May 25, 2013 – The South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) had laid out a beach bonanza for Durbanites and hoping to draw visitors from around the country in its quest to continue the Gunston 500 trend in the city.
Durban crowds got a great beach sporting weekend when the sun, sea sport colluded to produce excellent conditions for the inaugural SAMSA-Durban Stars surfing and jetski competition as part of the authority’s aim to champion maritime interests. From early this morning the surfers rode the waves hoping to get into the finals on Sunday. Apart from surfing and jet ski, SAMSA has also ensured that other sporting codes like touch rugby, skateboarding and bmx stunts gets a platform.
